Greetings and welcome to spring! It’s that time of year when the sleeping
earth awakens and fills our lives with color.
I must say, I do love spring, and for more than just the pageantry of
flowers and leaves, and the birds returning from their southern vacations. You see, spring is a picture of rebirth and
renewal, and in God’s calendar that means the joys of the Easter season.
As each new spring rolls
around, we often have our own stories of rebirth or renewal as God continues
with his “work in progress”. As I look
upon our congregation, I see opportunities waiting to be realized and stories
waiting to be told. We all have a story;
whether we think others are interested or not, Christ is working in each of our
lives and has blessed us with more than we can even now grasp.
Scripture is ripe with testimonies of the workings of
God in the lives of ordinary people – people like you and me. I figure that, if we can be blessed by these
stories about people we don’t even know, how much more blessing can we receive
from hearing of the encouraging work that God is doing in our midst!
So, I encourage each of you, as the Spirit leads, to
offer your personal testimony to the congregation. Each Sunday we will plan to set aside a few
minutes after the quiet time for an individual to speak, if someone desires to
do so. In this way, we will stimulate
one another to good works and strengthen the body of Christ. (Acts 13:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:11)
God bless,
Pastor
Thom
Food for thought:
What if God decided to stop leading us tomorrow
because we didn't follow Him today?
What if God couldn't take the time
to bless us today because we couldn't take the time to thank Him yesterday?
What if we never saw another flower bloom because we
grumbled when God sent the rain?
What if God didn't walk with us today because we failed to recognize it as His
day?
What if God took away the Bible tomorrow because
we would not read it today?
What if God took away His message because we failed to listen to the messenger?
What if God didn't send His only begotten Son because He wanted us to be
prepared to pay the price for sin?
What if the door of the church was closed because we did not open the door of our hearts?
What if God stopped loving and caring for us because we failed to love and care
for others?
What if God would not hear us today because we would not listen to Him?
What if God answered our prayers the
way we answer His call to service?
What if God met our needs the way we give
Him our lives???
